Research and Projects

Current Research Projects at the Department of Geoinformatics:

  • Big Spatio-Temporal Data
  • Geosensors
  • Travel Mode Detection
  • Topology in n-dimensional spaces
  • 3D/4D Geographic Information Systems

The newly established Geoinformatics Research Network at KIT, in close collaboration with the Institute for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (IPF) as well as international partners, acts as an interdisciplinary “hub” linking together the fields of Geodesy, Earth Sciences, and Geoinformatics. Through the combination of Geoinformatics and Geodesy, new fields of research are to be developed.

In the AUD-KIT Geoinformatics Group joint research and teaching activities were carried out in collaboration with the School of Engineering, American University in Dubai (AUD) (see also 9th International Conference 3D GeoInfo).

The research focuses of 3D/4D Geographical Information Systems and spatial databases are part of a long tradition at the University (see also SFB 350).
