    Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on the datum realization in local or regional GPS networks and their connections into ITRF96.

After a short introduction, a summary on spaceborn techniques is given. A general task during the adjustment of geodetic networks observed by spaceborn techniques is the definition of the geodetic datum. The normal equation of the initial least squares adjustment problem is singular if no datum information exists. Consequently, datum type information can be used in order to regularize the normal equations. Three different approaches can be distinguished: regularization by fixing coordinates, by constraining or by generalized inverses. In this context we introduce the notions of Reference Frame Noise and Reference System Effect.

In a next chapter, the ITRF compution process is described in detail. Let us assume the fundamental consideration that each space technique is able to define implicitly a reference frame. Then, all these frames can be combined by means of a seven parameter transformation for positions and for velocities.

In a fourth chapter, we analyze the datum definition in networks. Spectral analysis of the variance-covariance matrix of networks is an appropriated tool for this task. Characteristic measures are developed in order to quantify the impact of the datum definition. It can be shown that not only the network geometry but also the variance-covariance matrix, resulting of the initial adjustment influences the datum definition. The use of precise IGS orbits and IERS EOP's introduce external datum type information which is initially not contained in the network. This being the case, it seems to be worthwhile to review the connection concepts to ITRF.

Outliers in one of the networks disturb the connection of the local into the global network. The iterative data-snoopnig process is used to detect outliers in the data. Further one, investigations are carried out in order to localize these outliers and to quantify their impact on the estimated parameters. Using the results of these analysis, a strategy for connecting the SCAR network into ITRF96 is proposed.
