GIK at ZKM
The anniversary exhibition “200 years of KIT - 100 objects” is enriched by two virtual exhibits from the Geodetic Institute. One is a 3D model of a historical repetition theodolite and the other is a photo album of a geodesy student from the 1960s.
In connection with the theodolite from around 1820, reference is made to the outstanding role played by Johann Gottfried Tulla, co-founder of the predecessor institutions of the KIT, in the straightening of the Rhine and surveying in Baden.
The photo album, on the other hand, shows private memories, especially of the work during the “Survey Camp” in the Black Forest, which now have a tradition of over 130 years at the Geodetic Institute.
The exhibition is designed in such a way that 100 panels with objects can be placed individually on an interactive table and the content can then be accessed via illustrations and projections. The same functions are also available online:
