Each year when the exacvation season in ancient Pergamon beginns, the Geodaetic Institut Karlsruhe supports the German Archaeological Institut since more than a decade. Several geodaetic students are traveling to modern Bergama and giving advice to archaeologists, architects, civil engineers and excavation technicians in all kind of geodaetic issues and problems. In their daily workingroutine they are cappable of using their theoretical knowledge for pracital purposes in a sometimes creative way, on a working field which is mostly unknown to them. In addition to their work they can explore the country, the people and the culture for several weeks. The geodaetic institute makes sure, that the students have all the material they need, by supplying them with the surveying instruments, all kind of technical material as well as evaluation software.
